The SRD is preparing a second grant application request with the Canada-British Columbia Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, to offset costs for the REC-REATE project, the redevelopment of Strathcona Gardens.

Cortes Island residents and property owners can now share their opinions on the Cortes Island Community Wildfire Protection Plan and Evacuation Plan survey which is available online and will also be mailed to property owners later this week.
The SRD is excited to be gradually welcoming patrons back to its recreational facility over the upcoming months. At a July 22 Commission meeting, staff received direction on reopening further services at Strathcona Gardens, while a difficult decision was made to delay the September opening of the Arena #2 ice rink.

The SRD hosted Community Broadband Planning forums in June of 2019 where seven communities within the regional district were visited throughout a two-week block.

The SRD Board of Directors intends to proceed with final passage and adoption of Bylaw No. 393 & Bylaw No. 394 at its Wed. Aug. 19, 2020 meeting unless at least 10% of eligible electors submit elector response forms before 4:30 p.m. on August 10, 2020.
